3..2..1.. Lift Off!
Welcome to Growth Rocket….wait…what’s Growth Rocket?
Growth Rocket has been started by a team of friends from a range of business backgrounds. We are managers, designers, accountants and web designers. It's the outcome of an idea that’s been germinating for about twenty years. Sometimes, we'd forget about it for a while and then something would happen to bring it back to the front of our minds, often quickly being forgotten again. This time is different.
A series of converging events have now given us the motivation and creative spark to finally make Growth Rocket into a reality.
TThat’s all very exciting, but we still haven’t really explained what it is, have we?
What would be really useful here is a mission statement, and it just so happens that we recently dreamt one up over beer and pizza.
Mission Statement: To inspire and aid entrepreneurs looking to start or grow their business, by sharing the experiences and knowledge gained by those who have already found success.
Wow! That sounds fancy doesn’t it? A lot of large words that are neatly combined into a punchy succinct sentence. But what the hell does it mean?
To explain further, we need to confess something.
We love business. Obsessed with learning about new ideas or concepts, we find it inspiring to read about a company that’s just broken the million-pound sales barrier for the first time, or a start-up that’s going to be making flip flops from recycled plastic. Large or small, we love them all.
As a business owner, it's so easy to get bogged down in the day to day running of your business that you start to become isolated. You stop looking around at what’s happening in the world around you, and that means that you might be missing opportunities. We want to be the angel on your shoulder whispering encouragement and showing you what can be done.
Telling the stories that deserve to be told
Every day there are thousands of businesses that are celebrating victories. They could have won a new contract or installed a fancy new IT system. They might have made their office paperless or hired ten new employees. These events are a big deal to the people involved, they are an indicator that their business is heading in the right direction, that all the hard work they’ve been putting in is being rewarded. These stories deserve to be shared.
We find it inspiring, and we think you will too. That’s why we're going to find these stories and share them with you. Hopefully they’ll inspire you to great things
Remember, reading our blog or listening to someone’s advice will not grow your business, we hope to provide the spark that leads you that growth, but it’s only you that can make it happen.
Growth is NOT always about increasing sales.
Growth can mean lots of different things. It can mean increasing in size, but it can also mean the increase of value or importance. The growth targets of a business are personal to the individual. Some people want their business to grow so large that it could eat Amazon for breakfast. Others want their business to grow into something that will replace their day job. Another person might want their business to grow from an office-based company with ten employees into a mobile, consultant-based model that they can operate from a motorhome while they spend their days travelling around the south of France. (That one sounds tempting to us!)
All of these are “Growth Targets”, but they are all very different. For us, growth is about turning your business from what it is now, into something that works better for you. Growth is progress.
3,2,1..Growth Rocket has lifted off.
This blog is just the beginning, a seed from which our vision of Growth Rocket will flourish. Never have we been so excited about a concept. There are so many ideas that we want to try. New ways of helping businesses connect and grow. But that’s for the future.
Growth Rocket has only just achieved lift off, and the journey is not going to be easy. There is a huge amount of work to do, so much that it’s terrifying. We want to create tonnes of valuable content that we can share with you. Mega tonnes. And the only way to do that is to get out there and start looking for it. Only when we're happy with the level and quality of the content can Growth Rocket begin to evolve. Walk before you can run is always a piece of advice that has served us well. At the same time, it doesn’t hurt to have big dreams
Remember: There is no magic in small plans.
